ALS Regimen
Summary: Practice Metals
Toxin Avoidance, The
Water Cure, and Sauna Therapy Use a multimineral,
alpha lipoic acid, acetyl-l carnitine, and medium
to high dose vitamin C . Use 1 to 3
tablespoons of extra
virgin olive oil each day. Deparasitize then follow an antiviral regimen long term.
Avoiding toxic metals is a prime consideration.
Also observe Solvents
Avoidance as much as possible, especially avoiding aspartame as well as all forms of MSG.
| Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis or ALS, is a chronic, progressive disease marked by gradual degeneration of the nerve cells in the central nervous system that control voluntary muscle movement. The disorder causes muscle weakness and atrophy; symptoms commonly appear in middle to late adulthood, with death in two to five years. The cause is unknown, and there is no known cure. Also called Lou Gehrig's Disease, or Motor Neuron Disease. |

Besides the
glutathione-boosting effects of the recommended alpha lipoic acid, it helps
removes toxic metals from the body as does The Water Cure and medium
to high dose vitamin C, but the main benefit from the
vitamin C is boosting glutathione levels. For the
vitamin C, a good product would be NutriBiotic Hypo-Aller C,
which contains per teaspoon 2.6g vitamin C, 350mg each
calcium and magnesium, plus some zinc and potassium.
If a vitamin C mineral supplement like this is used, a
multimineral is not necessary.
Use at least one teaspoon before bed and 1/4 tsp doses
during the day.
Alpha
lipoic acid (ALA) serving size should be around 250mg taken 2 to 4 times
per day. Acetyl-l carnitine greatly improves the
effects on repairing nerve and other tissue damage and works
synergistically with ALA. Creatine may also help. There are now available a few ALA-carnitine combination supplements including one by NSI. These types are made to combat nerve degeneration and may help in disorders such as ALS, Alzheimer's, and MS.
| A respected alt healer once reported on an internet rife list that he cured over 50% of ALS and MS patients by
recommending a simple and inexpensive regimen. It was
to use colloidal silver in high dose (4 to 8 oz per day), 3
tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil per day, and water therapy (or just use epsom salts in daily hot baths). If using colloidal silver
in large amounts or for long term, use only the high voltage AC process type. |

Whey protein supplements are often recommended for muscle
and nerve degeneration. Like vitamin C and alpha
lipoic acid, whey boosts glutathione levels plus provides
protein in the diet which helps the production of
antiinflammatory hormones. The best whey product for the
money is probably Designer Protein, but avoid artificial
sweeteners by using only the French Vanilla or Plain
flavors. A good snack can be made with a scoop or two
in some pineapple juice with olive oil. Note that MSG can be used to create MSG (see below) but good quality whey protein products do not contain it.
The Zone Diet should be followed as well as possible, consuming adequate
protein and good oils while avoiding starches and sugars,
while taking Eat
Right 4 Your Type into consideration. For example,
it is usually not beneficial for blood type O's to be
vegetarians. They do best eating moderate amounts of
animal protein (including 2-3 small servings of red meat per week)
while blood type A's should follow a mostly vegetarian
diet. All blood types should eat plenty of non-starchy
vegetables.
For the Multimineral choose a 1:1 calcium magnesium like Solaray Cal-Mag
Citrate (3 - 6 capsules before bed) or the Hypo-Aller-C. Do not use
high dose C without using a multimineral and otherwise
ensuring adequate mineral consumption. Avoid orange
juice and bananas but pineapple juice is good for the potassium content. Use a multivitamin to ensure adequate levels of trace minerals if necessary. Severe magnesium deficiency may be responsible for many neurolgical disorders, so using a multimineral, or even just plain magnesium, may be crucial for success. Besides using supplements, epsom salts (also known as magnesium sulfate) in hot baths will improve magnesium stores. In cases where there is severe deficiency or an inability to absorb magnesium in the digestive tract, using epsom salt baths can be very helpful, as can magnesium used transdermally.
Before bed use a tablespoon of raw extra virgin olive oil
with the minerals. Do not use extra virgin olive oil
for cooking where it will be excessively heated (see Fats
and Oils). If elimination is still slow or
symptoms severe, also use olive oil during the day, 1 to 3
teaspoons with breakfast and lunch. If essential fatty
acid deficiency is suspected, also use an EFA
supplement like Jarrow
Formula's Omega Balance and/or otherwise ensure EFA
consumption by eating a few raw walnuts and almonds
daily. Do not use an EFA supplement too high in GLA
content. Using mixed
tocopherols (1200IU per day) is recommended especially
if the raw nuts are not used on a daily basis or the multivitamin does not contain it.
If there is any inflammation or pain, use an
antiinflammatory like NSI Bromelain or Enzymatic
Therapy Megazymes in large amounts . Non-acidic enzymes such as these
can be taken in whatever dosage is necessary to fight pain,
up to two or three times or more recommended
dosage.
Sauna therapy is used to clean out the muscles and other tissues of toxic metal and other deposits. This may be crucial to success, especially if one does not otherwise sweat a good deal. Exercising of working in warm weather to evoke profuse sweating is also effective if this is possible. Either way, ensure that there is adequate consumption of minerals and especially water when using sweat therapies.
If this regimen meets with initial success but then no longer appears to be effective, it may be necessary to add antiviral and antiparasitic regimens by using Eclectic Institute Intestinal Support and an olive leaf extract and/or oregano oil supplements to the regimen. After deparasitizing, it is possible to use high dose B12. Find a sublingual methylcobalamin B-12 of 1 to 5mg potency and use up to 20mg per day in
divided doses. Do not use this huge dose of B-12
without ensuring at least 100% RDA folic acid (in a
multivitamin).
If there are any liver problems indicated by upper back
or shoulder pain, or undigested fats and oils, clean the
liver.
L-theanine, an amino acid, helps prevent glutamate
toxicity on the nervous system, as does the vitamin C,
carnitine, ALA, and other supplements.
The usual serving of L-theanine is 200-400mg taken before bed. It also
causes relaxation and is an aid to relaxation. It can be added to the regimen
if additional action is necessary or as needed.
MSG
Some people think that the excitotoxin MSG (monosodium glutamate) may play a role in some nervous system disorders such as ALS. It is best to avoid it as much as possible. Read labels on foods to ensure that it is not contained. Note that whey protein is included in the regimen above since it is helpful to rebuild nerve (and muscle) damage, although if you see "whey protein" listed in the ingredients for a non-protein food, such as crackers, it may be a code name for MSG.
